Bookstore Improvement Project

The Bookstore located at the Botanical Garden’s Main Gate will be under construction from approximately March 20-May 6 to make the Bookstore’s entrance ADA-compliant. Fear not! The Plant Shop will remain open, and a Bookstore pop–up will be open at the Main Entrance too.

Open During Construction:
  • Botanical Garden Plant Shop: Open Daily 10am-4pm, closed Tuesdays until May 2024. Open on Free Tuesdays!
  • Bookstore Pop-up at Main Entrance: Open Daily 10am-4pm, closed Tuesdays until May 2024. Open on Free Tuesdays!
  • Online Store: Always open.

We’re excited to make our little shop accessible to all, and you can help by continuing to support the shops during construction either in-person or online. All proceeds benefit the Gardens, our local partners, vendors, and artists. Many thanks to the SF Rec & Park team for leading this improvement project, and a huge thanks to our wonderful regulars, visitors, volunteers, and friends who frequent the shops!

Plant Sale FAQs

Plant Sales at San Francisco Botanical Garden are free for everyone to attend. The Plant Shop and Bookstore are located near the Main Gate of the Botanical Garden.

The Conservatory of Flower’s Plant Shop is located inside the glasshouse in the West Gallery, so admission will be required.

Absolutely! ​Gardens of Golden Gate Park members get 10% off at all plant sales. The member discount also applies to all purchases at both the Conservatory’s and Botanical Garden’s Plant Shops and Bookstore.

A wide range of our best plants are available at each plant sale, focused around a seasonal featured theme but not limited to the seasonal feature—all plant types are well represented at each sale.

Limited free street parking is available in Golden Gate Park– please note time limit restrictions and car-free JFK Promenade. There are bicycle racks located at both entrances to the Botanical Garden and near the Conservatory’s East and West ends. Additional paid parking and bicycle racks are located in the Music Concourse Garage. During all plant sales, a temporary loading zone is available outside the Botanical Garden’s Main Gate.
