Virtual: Drawing Butterflies and Moths

Explore drawing butterflies or moths realistically using pencil or colored pencils and learn how to incorporate these intriguing insects into your botanical drawings or paintings. Learn a little bit of anatomy of those insects, the role they play in the ecosystem as well as basic sketching and colored pencil application process. We will also look at how butterflies or moths have been portrayed in historical art by Maria Sibylla Merian. This workshop will include a presentation, a demonstration of how to approach drawing butterflies or moths using pencil and colored pencils, and a time to draw together. Although drawing in a realistic form will be the focus, individual styles will be encouraged and celebrated.
