Impressed Botanicals: Nature Prints of the Bay Area by Latifat Titilayo Apatira

In 2018, Apatira fell in love with nature printing, a process that combines art, history, and plants. Through the creative process, she takes the opportunity to learn about her subjects: their common and scientific names, their unique physical characteristics, and ethnobotanical uses.

Story Time & Family Garden Walk

 

1st and 3rd Sunday every month

Looking for a fun, free and easy-to-coordinate activity? Join us in our cozy children's book nook for lively readings of nature-themed stories.

 

Afterward, families can enjoy a special docent-led family Garden walk that brings the stories to life. Be sure to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

SFPL Bookmobile at the Garden

January 13 - Indigo Dyeing  

 

Visit the bookmobile at the Garden and learn the science of plant dyes and chemical reaction of indigo dyeing. Explore arashi and hajime shibori method for creating beautiful patterns onto silk scarves.

 

Note: Meet at the bookmobile parked outside the Garden's Main Gate. Free program.

We've partnered with the UCCE Master Gardener Program of San Mateo & San Francisco Counties to bring you this FREE service to help with your own garden. Stop by the Garden's Library of Horticulture on Wednesdays from 10:30am-2pm and ask us your questions!
